Senior Aeronautical Engineer (32233)

Description

Provide defense acquisition engineering consulting support and participate in technical reviews, conduct engineering analyses systems and sub systems in terms of operability, technical merit, and schedule risk. Review and evaluate production design data and documentation; prepare, test and evaluate Engineering Changes; and conduct analyses of producibility and production operations, processes, and systems in production items. Provide recommendations for the defense acquisition team coordination and risk mitigation strategies associated with production and migration. Advise and recommend strategies for issues including migration, program schedule, and infrastructure upgrades. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, and at least 10 years relevant experience in the field or in a related area. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to an executive or manager.

• Acts as engineering team leader or supervisor, developing engineering procedures and controls, managing project efforts, and taking the lead in problem resolution. 
• Interfaces with system or program contractors, vendors, and Government representatives regarding the technical aspects of engineering programs/projects. 
• Independently applies engineering principles to investigate, analyze, plan, design, develop, implement, test, or evaluate automated information systems (AIS)s. 
• Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation. 
• Applies engineering experience to perform functions such as system integration, configuration management, quality assurance testing, or acquisition and resource management.
• Analyzes, designs, develops, implements, tests, or evaluates automated data processing software related to engineering or functional requirements of AISs, associated support systems, or management information systems. 

A total of at least eight years of professional engineering experience that consisted of performing the foregoing engineering functions with respect to DoD programs/projects.  At least    4 years of the foregoing total experience shall have been as a team leader or supervisor performing the foregoing engineering management functions.

Education:  A bachelor's or postgraduate degree in an engineering discipline from an accredited school.

United States Citizenship is required.  Must be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
